Hotel Gasthof Kohlmayr – Authentic Hospitality with History With over 200 years of family tradition, the Gasthof Kohlmayr in the heart of the medieval artists' town of Gmünd in Carinthia stands for authentic Carinthian hospitality. Its central location makes the hotel an ideal starting point for cultural discoveries in the city and for nature-based experiences in the surrounding Nockberge Mountains and the Malta Hochalm region. Our hotel is located in a listed building over 700 years old, which has been lovingly preserved and stylishly modernized. The ornate paneling, historic elements, and decorative details give the hotel a special charm – a house with soul and character. All rooms and bathrooms have been extensively renovated in recent years and offer modern comfort in a historic setting. Please note that due to the listed building, an elevator cannot be installed – all rooms are accessible only via stairs. The hotel is therefore not wheelchair accessible. Living with style and personality Whether in the main building or the annex – our more than 20 rooms are individually designed and furnished with great attention to detail. They feature a shower/WC, flat-screen TV, and free Wi-Fi. Despite the lively location on the main square, you can enjoy restful nights in these quietly facing rooms. We offer flexible breakfast options – depending on occupancy, either as a buffet or as an extended continental breakfast served at your table. Pets are only allowed upon request and for a cleaning fee – we ask for your understanding that they are not allowed in the breakfast or restaurant areas, also out of consideration for guests with allergies. Culinary Delights – Currently Operating as a Hotel Garni Until fall 2024, our restaurant was known for traditional Carinthian specialties and international cuisine. We currently operate the hotel as a Hotel Garni, as we have temporarily suspended à la carte service due to staffing issues. Our rooms are still available for groups, celebrations, or events by prior arrangement.
